KUCH NAA KAHO is a movie I had completely dismissed at the time of it’s released, I didn’t hate the movie as such, but it didn’t do much for me, and I admit this isn’t a genre that usually “works” for me. However upon the insistence of a friend I decided to give the movie another try, and ended up enjoying it quiet a bit. Don’t get me wrong folks, KUCH NAA KAHO has it’s share of flaws, however the movie is a refreshing, spirited and extremely likeable due to some endearing performances and a lilting musical score; Rohan Sippy made a worthy debut and in many cases it doesn’t feel like the work of a debut film-maker.
Raj (Abhishek Bachchan) lives in New York with his beloved mother, Dr. Malhotra (Suhasini Mulay), who desperately wants her son to settle down and get married, Raj on the other hand doesn’t believe in arranged marriages nor does he have any intentions of getting married.
When Raj visits India for his cousin's wedding, his maternal uncle (Satish Shah) emotionally blackmails him into agreeing to meet some eligible girls. To make matters worse, the person his uncle chooses as the matchmaker and go-between for these meetings is the same person Raj has already antagonised earlier.
That person is Namrata (Aishwarya Rai), an employee of Raj's uncle. After a series of meetings with potential brides, it becomes apparent to Namrata that finding a match for this particular suitor is not only a nightmare, but an exercise in futility as Raj ends up scaring all his potential brides away. As fate would have it Raj ends up falling in love with Namrata…problem solved? Not quiet…Namrata is a solo mum who was abandoned by her husband a while back.
Rohena Gera has done a great job with the story. Her take on the subject matter is not only refreshing, but she handles the theme with the much needed mature touch that it needs. A theme like this is often shown in the most over-melodramatic light with our heroine weeping and crying, however Gera has been careful to ensure that Namrata never comes across as weak, but as a confident, strong-willed, and more importantly independent solo mum who is surviving and happy on her own.
Neeraj Vohra’s screenplay is the biggest culprit here. Infact the promo’s of the movie show Vohra struggling to write the screenplay as part of the movies publicity, and I actually wonder if that was actually true, as Vohra’s screenplay comes across as jaded and clichéd diluting the impact of Gera;s wonderfully fresh story. The first half has it’s fair share of laughter and light moments while the second half has plenty of emotional moments, though a lot of these sequences have a “been there seen that” feeling. The finale with Arbaaz Khan showing up at the last minute is a clunker and had it not been for the amiable chemistry between the leads the movie could’ve fallen flat, but thankfully it doesn’t.

Story
"Refugee" is a young man (Abhishek Bachchan) from the Indian side of an Indo-Pakistani border crossing in the desert. Among other activities, he helps Muslim "refugees" across this border, hence his name. He's also one of the village chief's two sons. The village chief is under the strict eye of the Indian border guards. His village is a hot-spot of illegal trafficking and migration between the two enemy countries. After the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, the two countries became sworn enemies and nuclear powers. East Pakistan became Bengladesh - still a mostly Muslim country but now stressing its Bengali culture and its "native" people. Many non-Bengali Muslim families rushed to migrate to Pakistan. They are not Bengali, though Muslim, but unwanted both in the new Bangladesh and in the India they had abandoned at the time of "Partition." This new migration thus requires crossing the Indian border twice before reaching Pakistan. One such family, having migrated from Orissa (in India) to East Pakistan at the time of Partition, arrives at "the Refugee's" village, after crossing the Bengladesh/India border, and all of India east to west. They want to cross into Pakistan, seen as the "holy land" where they can live in peace. The family contracts the "Refugee" for the crossing to Pakistan. The family's beautiful daughter (Kareena Kapoor), adds fuel to the Indo-Pakistani fire. Her father uses her in a "search for a suitable Muslim husband" alibi, as the family's pretext for residency in Pakistan. However, this pretext provokes friction on both sides of the border. The commanding Pakistani Border Officer and the Indian "Refugee" compete for the beautiful daughter's affection. Thus, Indo-Pakistani tensions are heightened beyond all precedents by this additional conflict.

His fourth film in 2005 Bluffmaster was moderately successful. He recently won his second Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actor category for Sarkar.
His first 2006 release, the multi-starrer Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006) did extremely well at the box office. He was also a part of Mani Ratnam's stage show, Netru, Indru, Naalai alongside many other co-stars. His second release Umrao Jaan failed to do well at the box office. His third release Dhoom 2, a sequel to his first hit Dhoom has done very well at the box office.
His first release in 2007 was Guru. He has received much acclaim for his performance.
The song "Kajra Re", which Abhishek performed in the film Bunty Aur Babli (2005), was voted best song of 2005 and best choreographed song of 2005 in a poll by the Hindustan Times.

Abhishek Bachchan Biography
Some would say Abhishek Bachchan was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. But Abhi would disagree. Despite coming from an elite family of superstars, Abhishek Bachchan did not get fame on a platter. He had to struggle tooth and nail to become one of the most promising actors in Bollywood.
Abhishek Bachchan was born on 5th February 1976. The scion of the talented Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan , Abhishek has acting in his genes.
Abhishek knew it from the very beginning that he has to make it big in cinema just like his father and mother. That’s why before completing his business degree in Boston University, he chose to come back to India and start his career in movies.
He made his acting debut in the year 2000 with J.P Dutta’s Refugee which was a great launch pad for him. But the film didn’t turn out to be a box-office success. Abhishek kept on signing new projects, but none of them proved to be a big hit.
After a string of flops, Abhi was dubbed a “dark horse” by his detractors.
Even on the personal front, Abhishek’s luck didn’t favour him. His engagement with well-known Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor broke in 2002.
Success knocked on Abhi’s door with Mani Ratnam’s Yuva in 2004, for which he got best supporting actor award. Since then, there has been no looking back for him. He has proved himself as a bankable actor.
Right now, Abhishek is working in many projects like ‘Delhi 6’, ‘Jhoom Barabar Jhoom’, ‘Drona’, ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, ‘Sarkar 2’ and ‘Guru’.
Not only is he one of the sought-after stars in Bollywood, Abhishek has also been named as Asia’s Sexiest Male of year 2006 by a British tabloid. The most eligible bachelor of Bollywood, Abhishek Bachchan is today living up to the credentials of the distinguished Bachchan family.
